EXCELLINK 2009 is an ARX application for AutoCAD 2009 (plus Architecture, Mechanical, Map 3D). It allows to bi-directionally hot link attribute and block data between an AutoCAD drawing and an Excel 2000/XP/2003/2007 sheet. Block properties can be driven from Excel. For room schedules, BOMs, lists, computed attributes, etc.

Excellink 2009 is a useful utility application for AutoCAD users. It is an ARX application which allows bi-directional hot linking attributes and block data between the AutoCAD drawing and the Excel sheet.

Pros: Excellink 2009 allows rearranging all the attributes of an existing AutoCAD drawing into an Excel sheet, quite conveniently. It has got good filtering options to select the blocks by name(s) or by the layer(s), while exporting the data. The export feature comes with a lot of options, wherein you can decide the factors like X, Y, Z coordinates, Scale, Rotating angle, Layer names, Block name and Layout name. The “Allow to select blocks” prompts the user to export only the selected block references. The applications comes with unique linking feature, wherein if linked and any changes are made in the Excel sheet, the same changes will automatically reflect in the AutoCAD drawing. This feature comes in very handy, as making changes in an Excel sheet is much easier than making changes in the drawing and mapping all the related parameters. The Excellink Helper Macros is a good feature to perform ZoomTo and Import functions or to count block occurrences in the exported table. The application works with either modelspace or paperspace objects. You can also create an AutoCAD drawing from en Excel sheet entry. The application also supports the surveying coordinates used in Czech Republic known as JTSK coordinates. You can even limit the number of decimal places imported to AutoCAD from an Excel sheet.

Cons: The layer property cannot be modified from Excel and creating of new AutoCAD block entries from Excel is also not possible. The help option does not function till a newer HTML Help component from Microsoft like MSIE is installed on the system.

Overall: The tool comes with some outstanding usability features and the application saves a lot of valuable time. A good utility application to easily handle complex and time consuming operations, deserves a 4 star rating.

Pros: Trend spotting requires that one is able to discern the trends from past/historical data. Most forecasting applications that use advanced methods create and train just one neural network. SwingNN introduces a new approach to forecasting using a series of related neural networks. Multiple neural networks are created and trained. Each new neural network learns from the results produced by the previous one. The neural network that produces the most accurate results is selected and used to extrapolate and forecast results beyond the existing training range. To make the forecasts accurate the application uses multiple levels of neural networks to achieve that. Your data is imported into a grid. The grid is then used to build and train a neural network. The neural network input values are then forced to swing beyond their limits. The unknown output values are forecasted by the neural network. Then a new neural network is created using the new inputs and forecasted outputs. The two neural networks are compared. The inputs are adjusted and another new neural network is created. The process continues until a neural network produces the best results when validated. The new neural network is then used to produce more forecasts. The forecasts produced are validated and then added to the grid. All the values in the grid can be exported for you to use in any way you want.

Cons: One needs to validate the data to be absolutely sure the trend spotting is accurate enough. The other aspect is you need to be able to understand how this thing is supposed to work.

Overall: Nice set functionalities and easy to use interface. This can easily rate a 4 star.

Provides a browser based interface. This software is several times worth its on-disk size of 1.31 MB.

Cons: May not work if firewall has been turned-ON. Being web-based it takes a few seconds to refresh a page.

Overall: A good utility tool that boosts the entire computing experience. This is a simple and useful application and is rated at 5 stars.
